Why So Bold?

Recently I have touched upon some very controversial topics.  I have often quoted scripture to clarify why these topics are not pleasing and sometimes abhorrent to our Lord.  Some readers and commenter's have gotten very offended at what I have written; some have felt disgruntled and said nothing, while some have felt downright angry and have let me have it with both barrels!  Maybe you have wondered why I have chosen to address these issues so boldly.  To those readers, here is why...

Our society has become a modern day version of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Fact.  As Christians we should be acutely aware that our society is literally drenched in sin!  I do not state that because, as one commenter put it "my mind is in the gutter", but simply because it is true.  Everywhere we turn we are bombarded by it: music, advertisements, movies, fashion and even toys.  We need to see the big deal.  If our Lord says we should be concerned then we should be concerned!  I understand that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), however we must still acknowledge that as Gods chosen ones, we must stand firm and shout out against all forms of sin and its tolerance in our society.  We cannot sit on the fence!

They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. - Psalm 106:34-40

Even in seemingly 'religious' countries we are dwelling in the gutter.  Just last week Ireland has had its first same sex 'civil partnership' performed!  This is a big deal!  The Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin!  This 'partnership' is just the first step; a way for the perverts and the liberals to bypass the predominant Catholic (we do not support Catholicism) church in Ireland and to soon introduce gay 'marriage'.

Homosexuality is rampant in our society.  Our young men have never had so much pressure put upon them to accept, or even to welcome homosexuality.  Our young ladies are targeted by 'cool' movies in which characters imply that it is uber fashionable to have a gay best friend!  When we as Christians, weakly whisper that being gay is 'sort of wrong' the liberals roar with laughter and mock the Almighty!  We need to shout out that being a homosexual is an abomination!

At present, in the Republic of Ireland abortion is still technically illegal, but for how long?  Amazingly though, abortifacient contraceptives are available here, as is the murderous 'morning after pill'.  How long before our government introduces the early abortion pill?  The pro-choice campaigners shout louder than we do.  Why...because there are more of them.  The devil is winning.  Even Christians are deliberately cutting off their seed, afraid to trust God.  We need to be bold, to tell what is not being told and to show what is not being shown!

The Bible likens our children to arrows in the hand of a mighty man.  Why?  Our understanding is that God wants our children to be sent forth into the world to strike a deadly blow to the enemy.  Are we as parents, watching out for the evils in our society that threaten to mislead and corrupt our children?  We need to train up our children for His army!  We need to sharpen His arrows!  We need to be bold!

Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127:3-5

If we do not take a strong stand against evil, we will become desensitized to it; it will eventually become part of our own lives as we start to accept, tolerate and even participate in it.  This has already begun to happen in the church.  When are we going to wake up?  When the enemy has won?  We cannot whimper and whine about the state of our society; we must act and shout out against it!  We are at war!

Great Post! With God's help, we are striving to raise boys to be a great part of God's army! I love your boldness. It shows a great deal of wisdom!

I have deleted the first comment posted here by 'Kiwi' Normally these type of hateful commenters do not have a 'name' that one can link, but alas this one did so I stupidly clicked it (after I had published the comment)! Whoops big mistake! I did not take a second glance and clicked out immediately! This person was a vile, disgusting pervert who does not deserve a platform for their 'voice' on my blog! I will not allow perverts to subject my readers to filth!

Thank you 'Heathfamily7' I am glad that you are purposefully raising your sons for Gods army! We can only make a change if we stand firm.

Couldn't agree with you more. I pray I raise my children to stand up for what is right. I am getting to the point to where I just want to stay home all the time. I don't like my children seeing all the bad. I know we can't do that, I just keep praying that God will heal our land.

We need to also be careful to have zeal without love. Jesus loved these "sinners" with all of his heart and died for them too. We should be careful to not burn our bridges with the "world" so that they will know us by our love and compassion for them. When they see that we are different by our love, then they will hopefully start asking questions. If they feel judged and condemned they will only hate us and write us off as "those Christians are bigots and hypocrites". They will not listen to what we have to say.

You can love without condoning the sinful behavior.

Let us remember what our Savior would have done.

To sort of go with what Stacie said, I want to share a quick story: A few years ago, my husband went to witness outside a huge gay party in the city. There was another church group who seemed very hate-driven. They would go on so far as to shout at them saying, "God hates faggots" and such.

My husband approached a man exiting the building and gently said to him, "Would you please read this tract?" The man, who was cold at first, softened and said, "Normally I would probably tell you to go to hell, since that's where I'm apparently going. (pointing to the other group) But you seem sincere. Sure, I'll read it ... really read it." My husband replied, "Thanks. It's because I am sincere. I just care about your eternal soul." He didn't have a chance to share the gospel with him since the man left shortly after this.

There's a time, as you've said, for boldness. I think a blog is a great place to be bold. You're not singling out an individual. The words you write can penetrate hearts when they are written well and tactfully, as you have.

A lot of people think I'm a loon for saying this, but I'm going to. Sin is sin. People have been practicing sodomy, murder, fornication, idolatry, adultery, lying etc. since people started sinning. I don't think we're going to change the world from doing these things ... unless the whole world gets saved. And we should certainly try to get them all saved. The problem with sodomy and homosexuality (besides it being abomination) is the acceptance of it by society and the was the people view it as normal. Our families cannot grow up believing that being a sodomite is normal.

You know me: wordy as usual. Great post. :)

Hope your dad's doing well.

Shalom Sarah,

I agree with your post. I believe we are nearing the end of time and soon our Savior will come and put an end to ALL sin and corruption. Our part is to watch and pray and work while it is day.....for the night cometh when no man can work.

Shalom In Yahshua (Jesus)

Most gay people will tell you that they've know they were gay for as long as they can remember. Very few will say, yes I chose to be gay but rather say that they were born gay. Is it not possible that they were born gay? That god made them this way? Perhaps being gay used to be an abomination because god wanted to populate the earth? In the same paragraph that calls being gay an abomination, is shrimp also not an abomination? A lot less people (and it is people you are calling an abomination, thinking feeling people) would get their feelings hurt if you focused on the equally bad abomination of shrimp. Genesis 2:24/Ruth 1:34. Matthew 8:5-13. Samuel 7:24. Matthew 19:10-12. Acts 8:26-40. Please don't write me off as a pervert or anything like that. I cry everyday because I truly believe that god loves homosexuals just how they are and the Christian church has just decided that god hates everyone that they do! If thinking that gays are an abomination, then I can no longer call myself a Christian. Who has less abortions than gays? Please find one positive thing about them!

My goodness, I did not realise when I wrote the above post that I would come across as a hateful person. Yes, perhaps I am a little blunt and over-zealous at times; sometimes because that is my nature and sometimes because the cause/topic deserves such. I am not a hateful person and try to find the good in every individual, however here I was addressing groups of people, their acts and the tolerance of such in society.

My intention in this post was to clarify the reason that I have touched on such controversial topics of late. I will state again that our society needs Christians to make a stand. Despite what you may think, I do not attack every 'sinner' in the street and beat them with my Bible! I understand that when I am witnessing for Christ, I need to apply delicacy, tact and love.

Don't we all oppose pornographic magazines on sale in our supermarkets? Would anyone call me hateful or vile for speaking out against that? Or challenging others to do the same? No, I sadly feel that I was targeted here for simply quoting scripture. The word abomination IS used in the Bible to describe homosexuality AND many other things. However on the issue of the above, God clearly states that anyone who commits an act of sodomy should be put to death. I'm sorry if people find that offensive but it is true! My description of that group of people and their acts is really immaterial...its what God says that matters.

I must say though, that I did appreciate such kind sweet ladies contacting me privately out of concern for me. I did not take any offense to this and your words did get me to pause and pray to God for guidance. So for that I thank you!

God bless

Shalom again. I must add that I've had grown up with a couple of gays. I've also worked with one.

The gay person I worked with was a very kind person (and when I mean kind; he was very kind). However, this does not change the facts of what Scripture has to say about the act of Sodomy. We, as followers of Yahshua (Jesus), are called upon to love all; and in loving all we wish YHWH'S best for all. And what is His best? It is given to us in His Word. Also we are admonished in YHWH'S (God's) Word to flee all sin. YHWH is coming to reward all people; those who have done good with eternal life and those who have done evil with eternal death[Jn.5:29]. However, YHWH clearly says He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked[Eze.33:11]; which is why He gave His all in the person of Yahshua (Jesus) the Messiah. And all who confess and forsake their sin and believe on Him shall be saved.

Shalom In Messiah.

I agree with you Sarah and what your saying is correct, I also think Stacie was right with the way in which we should view people. I have always been taught by the saying "hate the sin, not the sinner" I am not impliying that you do hate these people its that you hate what they are doing, but as it says in the bible "forgive them Lord for they know not what they do" these people have been trapped by the devil and yes we must make them see their wrong doings but we must do so in a gentle and loving way as Jesus would have done.

You are very brave to speak how you feel on here and that is perfectly ok but as a previous comment mentioned and I'm sure you realise we can not always say how we feel to people as individuals or we will end up pushing them away.
