All The Days Of Her Life...

"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
 so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil
all the days of her life." ~ Proverbs 31:10-12

This topic has been on my heart for many months now, and came to be so, as I was reading through a particular online thread.  That day I was a witness to a Christian woman, openly disrespecting her husband to others.  The lady in question often disrespects her husband online, telling others of his many failings as a father, husband and Christian man.  This woman often prides herself on her "spirituality", whilst all the time acting against God, through disobeying His word and His will for the conduct of wives.

Now let me just say, that the mans behaviour is of little importance to this post.  The wife may be rightly describing his lack of leadership in the home, immoral values and disobedience to God; but does that give excuse to Christian wives to disrespect their husbands, online or otherwise?

"Every wise woman buildeth her house:
but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands."
~Proverbs 14:7

The Bible is very clear about the roles of both wife and husband, and how they should behave toward one another.  My husband and I recently listened to a wonderful sermon dealing with having a biblical marriage, I can certainly recommend it.  ...Nowhere in the Bible does it say: be loving and in subjection to your husband ONLY is he loves you like Christ loved the church.  Neither does it say that wives should only reverence their husbands IF he measures up with your favourite evangelist/pastor/missionary and is on par with him in terms of Bible knowledge and/or his spirituality.

Of course a wife must always obey God first, and if her husband is asking her to do something immoral (morality based on God's word) then she should not do it, but this can still be done with the right attitude.

If she really thinks her husband is such a jerk *hat tip* then why did she marry him?  I understand that maybe the lady was not saved when she married (neither my husband or I were) and has now come to realise that her husband is lacking in his leadership (though I sincerely doubt he is the only one lacking); but that is NO excuse to talk him down to others.  To do this for any reason is to directly disobey God.

Perhaps if this lady was to fast/pray for her husband, restrict herself to only commenting on the positive qualities of her husband, and act as a wife is instructed in the Bible, then perhaps her husband would become stronger in his faith and become a good leader of the family...and most importantly, she would be living in obedience to God.

"Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands;
 that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word
 be won by the conversation of the wives;" ~ 1 Peter 3

Soooo true. :)I am so thankful for the sweet man that God gave me for a husband. What a blessing to know that he strives to live by the Word of God and teach our children in the way they should go. :)Often God will use a submissive wife to help lead her husband to the Lord as well.
