"Church" With Dylan And Meg

Amy and I could hear the little kids playing "church", just a few days ago.  We poked our heads in to see what they were up to, and this is what we found...

The Faithful, And Somewhat Interesting, "Congregation" :)

Painting Day!

Just recently, we removed all the old school work off of our blue board in the kitchen.  It was quite the task!  We had informally decided, some time ago, to try and have a Bible based "theme" for the work that we displayed on the blue board.  We decided to do this, simply to help us limit the amount of work that was displayed (they have LOTS of it!) and plus the fact, that visitors ALWAYS read our wall and ask questions about the work that the kids have done.  We what we display can often be a conversation opener for us to talk about Jesus Christ/the Bible with visitors.  Our new theme is:

GOD'S Wonderful Creation!

Our verse that we have chosen to represent this is:

"I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." ~ Psalm 139:14

As a craft project, I thought it might be nice to do painted hand/foot prints to add to our board; plus any random pictures that they wanted to make.  It has been a loooooooooong time, since I brought the paints out for the kids to create with.  It is just so messy, that I find I put it off...and off...and off...!  Anyway, they had a blast that day and loved me painting their feet, which they said was VERY TICKLY!

O Sing Unto The LORD A New Song!

Sisters Singing Praises Together

About two weeks ago, I was cleaning in the kitchen, when I heard Meg join in singing with Amy's piano playing.  I raced to grab my camera!  We had spare hymn sheets laying around from the previous week, when we had, had church in our home, with another family.  Meg was "reading" from the hymn sheets as she sang - too cute!  They played and sang through all Meg's current favourites:

Who is on the Lord's side?
Glory to His Name
At the Cross
Stand up, stand up for Jesus
Jesus loves me
Hold the fort...

Miss Meg LOVES Singing Hymns!

"O sing unto the LORD a new song:
sing unto the LORD, all the earth."
~ Psalm 96:1

The Aftermath!

Yesterday, Ireland experienced very bad weather.   Admittedly, it may not have been anywhere near "very bad", compared with some of the extreme weather experienced in other countries; but for us, it was highly unusual.  The kids and I were worried for my husband, who was out driving for his job in it - we prayed for God's protection over him.

We stayed indoors all day, and my kids (mainly Dylan) were super excited about the "hurricane" outside!  At one stage, Dylan hopped about from window to window, exclaiming about this thing and that.  He even said:

Dylan:  "I hope our house doesn't blow away".

Me:  "There's no chance of that Bud, our house is built of solid block".

Dylan: *sheepishly added*  "...I hope that it might blow away.  It would be a *little* bit fun!"

Haha - funny boy!  I think he had visions of it being, sort of like, taking a train ride...except through the clouds!  I told him to come away from the windows and come sit down, as there really wasn't anything "dramatic" going to happen.  Then I looked out the window and noticed that our trampoline was missing!  The wind had ripped it out of the ground and deposited it in our neighbours field!  *We have now retrieved it, and my husband is hoping that he'll be able to repair it.*

In the evening, there was a little more drama, when my husband informed us that one of our cows, had shoved it's head into a hole of an upturned tree, and was now firmly STUCK!  Cows *really* are not smart animals!  So after a full days work and no dinner, (he had gone straight out to tend and check the cattle) my husband set off at 10:30pm to try and free the cow.  My brother went too, and between them both and a vast array of implements, they were about to free the cow within an hour.

Today, the guys have spent almost the whole day tending to the damage and fixing fences...etc.  My husband took some pictures whilst he and Dylan were out and about today, I thought they were amazing!

"Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein:
then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
. Before the LORD: for he cometh
, for he cometh to judge the earth:
he shall judge the world with righteousness,
and the people with his truth."
~ Psalm 96:12-13

Monza - Board Game Review

At Christmas time, Dylan received a new board game - "Monza"!  We love board games and find that for the little kids, we LOVE "Haba" games best of all!  They are simple to play, fun, colourful, and made of good quality materials.  This game is a car racing game, with the goal to cross the finish line before the other players.  Initially, it seems as though success in this game is entirely dependant on the "luck of the roll"...but there is a little strategy involved too.

At present, this is Dylan's favourite game to play (his old favourite was another Haba game - Orchard).  We parents enjoy it, because we can either play as a family, or have special one-on-one with a particular child.  Also, the game is a "quick play" game, so we can play through two or three fun games of Monza, in about twenty minutes.  It can be so hard to find good board games for children, and indeed the whole I hope that this little review may be helpful! :)

It's Gonna Be A Close One!

Uh-Oh, I Don't Think Dylan Is Happy About His Roll

He Won!  Hooray For Dylan!
