Wrinkly Eggs And A Chicken Photoshoot!

In the last couple of weeks, we have had a few "wrinkly eggs".  They are so funny looking!  Even though our chickens have a prepared organic mix, as well all the grass and grubs they want, we still suspected that a calcium deficiency was the cause.  Particularly, since we have had a number of thinly shelled eggs.  The Prairie Homestead website, gave us the solution we needed: feeding baked (crushed) egg shells back to the chickens!  So we've been saving our shells for a little while now, and last night I baked and crushed them, ready to give to the "girls".  I'll let y'know how we get on! :)

can you eat the "wrinkly" eggs?

Loren ~ Yes, the wrinkly ones are perfectly fine to eat. They were the exact same inside. In the days since adding the shell back into the chickens diet, the shells are normal once again! :)

I love the chicken pictures! You have some really pretty chickens. I especially think that gray one is pretty.
